Overview
August was a relatively active month for the portfolio. I made changes to one of my existing positions, continued my regular ETF investing strategy and also explored options trading through a vertical spread.
At the same time, I have been looking more closely at how I want to structure the portfolio over the longer term, particularly around ETF selection, tax considerations and exposure to new sectors.
Portfolio Changes
CELH
During August, I sold 210 shares of Celsius Holdings (CELH) at US$33.00 per share.
This reduced my exposure to CELH and freed up capital that can potentially be redeployed into other opportunities.
QQQ DCA
I continued my regular QQQ dollar-cost averaging strategy, investing US$175 every two weeks.
One of these purchases was made on 24 August 2026.
I intend to continue using regular ETF purchases as one of the core components of my long-term investing strategy.
Options Activity
I also completed a vertical spread trade on Rocket Lab (RKLB) during the month.
The trade generated approximately a 34% profit.
While this was a positive result, I still view options as a smaller and more tactical part of my overall investing approach rather than the foundation of the portfolio.
My core focus remains on building long-term positions in equities and ETFs.
What I Am Researching
Irish-Domiciled ETFs
One area I have been spending more time researching is Irish-domiciled UCITS ETFs.
As a Singapore investor, I am particularly interested in whether these ETFs could provide a more suitable structure for long-term U.S. market exposure while reducing concerns surrounding U.S. estate tax.
This may influence how I build my ETF positions in the future, especially for long-term holdings.
New Sectors
I am also looking beyond the sectors and companies I currently own.
Two areas that currently interest me are:
- Space technology
- Quantum computing
These are still areas I need to understand much better before committing significant capital.
Rather than investing simply because a sector is gaining attention, I want to study the companies, competitive landscape, valuations and long-term growth potential first.
Portfolio Direction
Going forward, I want the portfolio to have a balance between:
- Broad long-term ETF exposure
- High-conviction individual stocks
- Exposure to emerging industries where I see long-term potential
- Smaller tactical trades when suitable opportunities arise
I also want to remain conscious of portfolio concentration and avoid adding positions simply for the sake of diversification.
Looking Ahead
Going into September, my main priorities are:
- Continue my regular QQQ DCA
- Research suitable Irish-domiciled ETF alternatives
- Study opportunities in the space and quantum-computing sectors
- Remain selective with new individual stock purchases
- Continue improving my understanding of options before increasing their role in the portfolio
The goal remains the same: build the portfolio gradually while improving the quality of my investment decisions over time.
